Peter married in Berks County, Pennsylvania, ANNA MARERETHA --- , probably born in Germany in about 1720.
Notes for Peter Bechtel:
Peter and Anna Mareretha were living at Rockland Township, Berks County, Pennsylvania, in 1765. From the book by Ulrich Kirschanick, Stammtafein Suedhessicher Familien, folge 1, BECHTEL, BITSCH, KATZENMEYER, etc. (available at the Lehigh County Historical Society and the Berks County Genealogical Society.)
According to Bechtel material sent by Lissa Powell of Wexford, Pennsylvania, the Hiematstadt or "native place or town" of the Bechtel family in Germany was a place called Frankenthal, located on the Rhein in the Rheinland Pfalz. After the French sacked and burnt Frankenthal, the Bechtel's moved to a place called Weinheim, located on the east side of the Rhein in the Berrgstrasse district of Hessen. This move would have occurred before 1690. In the Biographical sketches listed in, The History Of Berks County, 1909, page 523, it is stated that family tradition says that George Bechtel, the father of Isaac and Gerhard Bechtel, came from Weinheim.
